These links are meant to give you better access to online resources, we ask that you do not call these organizations. These organizations are involved in frontline work and are busy trying to make sure the basic necssities of their clientel are met, they do not have the resources to address your questions.

SFU Community

The Rotunda Groups: The Rotuda Groups are a collection of activist, student driven groups located neat the Rotunda area, all of these groups are strong supporters and allies of the women's centre. Including; Out On Campus, CJSF, and SFPIRG.

Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies: To find out information about the gender, sexuality women's studies department at SFU including their course offerings.

The Student Learning Commons: Works to provide students with the resources and tools needed for academic success. Visit them for assistance with a wide range of academic writing, learning, and study strategies.

 

Health

Health & Couselling Services: This service exists to help all SFU students address their mental and physical health needs. We know healthy students are successful students, and we want to help you achieve a well-balanced student lifestyle. Be sure to check out their well woman exam.

The Dish: The blog of SFU's resident dietician, Rosie Dahliwhal where she posts recipies and information about health, nutrients, and dieting.

Canadian Woman's Health Network: A national organization to improve the health and lives of girls and women in Canada and the world by collecting, producing, distributing and sharing knowledge, ideas, education, information, resources, strategies and inspirations.

Vancouver Women's Health Collective: A vancouver organization that values women’s knowledge, supports women taking charge of their own health, and raise sawareness and inspires action for the feminist advancement of women’s health.

 

Sexual Health

Options for Sexual Health: Has several clinics located across the lower mainland (where you can pick up birth control and preganancy tests) and offers a help phone line. Options provides reliable sexual health services and support in a non-judgmental and confidential manner.

Scarleteen: Sex ed for the real world. The highest ranked, independent, and grassroots sexuality education and support organization and website.

YouthCo: Was formed to provide education, support and advocacy for youth between the ages of 15 and 29 on issues associated with HIV & AIDS. Youthco is run by and for youth. It operates on a philosophy of harm reduction, confronting the realities faced by youth in a non-judgmental manner and providing the information for them to make safer choices in their lives.

 

Sexual Assault and Battery

Women Against Violence Against Women: A feminist sexual assault support center that challenges social structures and attitudes at the root of violence against women, injustice and all forms of oppression.

Battered Women's Support Services: BWSS provides education, advocacy, and support services to assist all battered women in Vancouver.

Rape Relief: Advocates for women’s equality by challenging the social attitudes, laws and institutional procedures that perpetuate male violence against women and children. It meets these goals by operating a 24-hour rape crisis centre, and a shelter for those trying to prevent or escape male violence and by working as an educational force.

British Columbia Society of Transition Houses: BCSTH is a non-profit association of Transition, Second and Third Stage Houses, Safe Homes, Children Who Witness Abuse Programs and other groups which serve the needs of women and their children fleeing violence.

 

Pro-Choice

Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada: Is a nation-wide political pro-choice group devoted to ensuring abortion rights and access for women. They look to ensure women's reproductive freedom by protecting and advancing access to abortion and quality reproductive health care.

Canadians for Choice: A national pro-choice, charitable organization that regards sexual and reproductive rights as an integral part of the health and well being of all persons. Through education and research, they strive to advance the continuum of sexual and reproductive health choices for all men and women in Canada and internationally.

Male Allies

XY: Men Masculinities and gender politics. It is a space for the exploration & discussion of issues of gender and sexuality, and of personal and social change. It features articles on key ‘men’s issues’, from fathering and men’s health, to class, race and sexuality, to domestic violence.

The White Ribbon Campaign: An international non-profit organization commited to seeing men work towards ending violence against women.

Men Engage: A global alliance of non-governmental organizations that are involved in an array of research, interventions, and policy initiatives seeking to engage men and boys in effective ways to reduce gender inequalities and promote health and the well-being of women, men, and children.

Men For Change: It is dedicated to promoting positive masculinity and ending sexism and violence.

NOMAS: National Organzation For Men Against Sexism Pro-feminist, gay-affirming, anti-racist, and enhancing men's lives.

Oh Brother! Exposing the phallicies of the pro-feminist men's movement (they have a special hate on for NOMAS).
